"Feels Like Robots Are Answering Support Emails"
I’ve been trying to get help with my issue, but the support has been really disappointing. Every email feels like it’s being answered by a robot with some generic response, and no one actually seems to read what I’m saying. My problem still isn’t fixed, and it feels like I’m just going in circles.

"Finally felt like I could catch up"
I was a little unsure at first, but my tutor ended up being really patient and easy to work with. They explained things in a way that made sense and didn’t make me feel bad for asking questions. My grades did start to improve, which helped me feel more confident. The only downside was that scheduling could be a bit frustrating at times, but overall I felt like I was in good hands.

"I was really hoping this would..."
I was really hoping this would be worth it, but I felt disappointed in the end. For the price, I expected a lot more, and it just didn’t feel like good value to me.

"Finding a good tutor took some effort"
I was feeling mentally drained after trying a few tutors. Some of them clearly knew what they were doing and were really helpful, but others seemed kind of unprepared or not that engaged. It took a couple tries before I found someone who actually worked well for me.

"At first it looked like finding a..."
At first it looked like finding a tutor was going to be simple, but actually trying to book someone was a total headache. The site made it seem like tutors had open times, but then those slots weren’t really available, or they just never responded at all. It felt like one broken promise after another, easy scheduling, quick replies, flexible availability… none of that really happened. I ended up spending more time chasing people down than getting any actual help, and it just wasn’t worth the hassle.

WyzAnt Tutoring Q&A

What is the reason behind the abundance of negative reviews from tutors?

“It's absolutely outrageous to charge students such a high amount, like $90 per hour. This organization needs to be prohibited and held accountable for their actions.”

“Native Speaker Version: Private tutors would definitely benefit more if Wyzant didn't exist. The profit margins in this industry are already quite slim, and no one wants a platform taking a hefty 30% cut (which is actually the best-case scenario, with 20% from the tutor and 10% from the student. In the beginning, the rate is even higher at 50%). However, Wyzant has managed to establish a dominant online presence by employing a large team of graphic designers, programmers, and data experts. As a result, any local tutor who wants to survive in this field is practically forced to use their services. While Wyzant does offer a service to the consumers, they expect the majority of the costs to be covered by the tutors themselves.”

“I personally experienced it, and I must say, their performance was incredibly moving. This establishment ought to be prohibited, allowing students and teachers to engage and provide tutoring services at fair and reasonable rates.”

“Many of the tutors on Wyzant charge exorbitant rates without providing much value. For instance, there are History Tutors who charge $150 per hour but lack knowledge beyond simply regurgitating your notes. Another issue is that other tutoring websites take the time to find the best fit for you, whereas on Wyzant, it's like browsing through a supermarket and hoping to find the best tutor. Sometimes, you may end up with a terrible tutor who has odd morning jobs. Wyzant doesn't seem to care about this and still charges you a 10% fee for each lesson. On top of that, if you make three complaints, they will permanently lock your account. I urge you to stop searching for tutors online through Google and instead choose a reputable tutoring site by reading reviews from non-Wyzant marketing sites. You may come across certain sites that rank Wyzant as the top tutoring site and claim they thoroughly vet their teachers. Please disregard these comments immediately and switch to a reliable site. Wyzant does not verify transcripts or conduct interviews, and the first claim itself is false.”
